Stablecoins and Global Dollar Rails
Market Structure · · CKC.Fund
A CKC note on stablecoins as a digital-dollar format, the infrastructure questions they raise, and why settlement design matters to digital-asset market structure.
Most stablecoins are designed to reference a currency, often the U.S. dollar, while moving across blockchain networks. That architecture can enable transfer and settlement around the clock, across borders, and through software-based systems that differ from traditional bank-payment rails.
The label alone does not establish equivalence. Reserve composition, redemption mechanics, legal claims, custody, liquidity, issuer governance, regulatory treatment, and the resilience of the underlying network all affect how a stablecoin should be understood. These questions are especially important during periods of market stress.
From CKC’s perspective, stablecoins are an important market-structure development rather than a stand-alone conclusion. We consider settlement infrastructure, liquidity conditions, regulation, and adoption alongside the broader regime picture; no one theme substitutes for a disciplined risk framework.
