Understanding Market Regimes in Crypto
Macro & Liquidity · · CKC.Fund
We describe the framework we use to evaluate whether market conditions favor risk-on, neutral, or defensive positioning — and why regime analysis is central to a disciplined investment process.
Regime analysis is the practice of evaluating whether the current market environment is more or less conducive to risk-taking. It is not a forecast. It is an assessment of conditions: macro liquidity, price action, breadth, leadership, on-chain activity, and crypto-specific signals.
We categorize regimes along a spectrum from defensive through neutral to risk-on. The categorization is informed by a defined set of indicators reviewed on a scheduled cadence. No single indicator drives the assessment; the framework requires agreement across multiple signals before the posture is moved.
The output of regime analysis is not a trade — it is a posture. Position sizing, asset selection, and risk parameters are determined within the regime context. The strategy seeks to participate in upside through disciplined positioning while reducing exposure during deteriorating conditions, where applicable under the relevant mandate.
